FAQs about Therapy

Here are some of the most common questions I get about working together.

If you don’t see your question listed or are ready to schedule a free consult, contact me.

  • $200 per session. I provide my clients with a superbill, so that they can submit it to their insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I do not accept insurance.

  • Being in this field and knowing other therapists helped me to realize that sometimes working with insurances can be a hassle. At times, claims can be denied and sessions may not be compensated for what they are worth; sometimes, denials are received late. It’s my preference to not work with insurances, as sometimes it can be hard for you or I to be reimbursed the rate we deserve and I’d hate for you to be stuck with a high bill. I wouldn’t want anything to disrupt our therapy sessions and most of all, disrupt your progress. Your progress is important to me. No worries - all of my reasons are explained in the consent forms given when an intake session is scheduled.

  • Since I do not take insurance, I always encourage my clients (if they so desire) to call their insurance and ask the following questions:

    1. Do I have “out-of-network” benefits for mental/behavioral health therapy?

    2. If so, how much per session can I get reimbursed?

    3. What is my deductible?

    4. Is there an annual limit to the number of sessions I can claim?

  • My hours are as follows:

    Tuesday: 12pm - 7:00pm
    Wednesday and Thursday: 12pm-6:30pm
    Friday: 10am-4:30pm

My office is located at 535 Route 38, Suite 128C, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08002. It is conveniently located in Camden County and is even about a 15-minute drive from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I also offer online therapy for New Jersey and Pennsylvania residents.

  • Unfortunately, not at this time. I only do therapy sessions for individual. However, I do have some great couples therapists I can refer you to!

  • It is very normal to feel nervous, especially when perhaps your trust has been broken before or the idea of being vulnerable feels weird. If other clients were to describe anything about me, it is that I have ensured that my approach is welcoming for them; it’s not difficult for me to build a connection with my clients, even if it means relating on a small level - and I completely enjoy that!

  • Psychotherapy does not mean you are “psycho” or crazy. It is pretty much the same as counseling, so the terms can be interchangeable. Keep in mind - just because you want to start or you go to therapy does not mean that you are crazy; it simply means that you need active support and guidance, which I look forward in providing for you. There are even therapists who have therapists!

  • During your first appointment, I will answer any questions you may have about the completed paperwork, including policies and agreements. We will then go over your intake paperwork, so that I can get even more of a fuller picture of what’s going on and we can develop some goals for our work together. I also explain in further detail my line of work so that you can be assured on how I will help you. Then, the floor is yours. My focus is building a comfortable, positive rapport with you - after all, this is your safe space.

  • Everyone is different, but know that our sessions are individualized to your needs. How long you are in therapy will depend on your progress and no matter the pace, I am here to support you through it with no judgment. Some people need to meet weekly for a few months; others may be longer or shorter and a lot of my clients are able to transition to biweekly sessions once we feel comfortable about their progress after some time.

  • Finding a therapist is a process - you have to meet, converse, get to know one another to see if it’s a good match. An indicator if you and I are a good match therapeutically will be during our 15-minute phone consultation and (if we agree to schedule) the intake session. Don’t feel afraid to let me know that this may not work for you - I will not take offense and I will at least provide you a list of other therapists in the area that may be suitable for you. If we are a good match, just know that I am truly looking forward to working with you on your journey.

  • Yes. During the phone consultation, I will be asking you several questions in relation to why you want to do therapy. If, for whatever reason, I feel that there is a better therapeutic match for you to meet your needs, I will provide you with that therapist’s information to assure that you don’t feel empty handed. If we feel that we are suitable to do therapy together, we will go ahead and schedule that first session. And there we begin your journey to comfort, peace, and confidence.

  • I am an Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)-certified therapist, which means I am able to practice this form of psychotherapy that consists of several evidence-based therapies addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias, and other challenges. ART has actually helped patients to feel relief from strong physical, emotional reactions within 1-5 sessions; read more about ART. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has also been effective for clients, helping them to move forward and no longer be stuck in trying to control emotions. I also utilize solution-focused techniques to help you problem-solve, a strength-based approach to highlight your positive progress, and others. I am also an Internal Family Systems Level One trained therapist through the IFS Institute. Having been a client myself, I can attest to how transformational IFS is. Read more about IFS here.

  • Awesome! I can’t wait to speak with you! The first step is to schedule a phone consultation (for free).
