Samantha Nusom, LCSW, Therapist for Anxiety in Cherry Hill and online across NJ and PA

It’s time to unload the heaviness of anxiety and allow light and peace to flow through you.

Your anxiety shows up mentally when you find yourself overthinking and ruminating on everything that went wrong in your relationships or during that painful trauma. It also seems to live in your body, like when your heart races or your chest feels tight, making it hard to breathe. It feels like you don’t get a break and it keeps weighing you down. You can’t help but feel stuck.

I work with clients who are looking for a therapist who can help them to press “play” after being stuck on “rewind” on the moments of anxiety that replay in their mind. You have the desire to move forward and live a life that is free from the overwhelm of anxiety. Together, we can make that happen.

During our first session, we will get to know each other and decide how we can work towards your goals. You can share whatever is on your mind, as we create a trusting environment. I will answer any questions you may have. Throughout our ongoing sessions, you will find that the space I maintain for you is inviting. You can feel free being your authentic self. Even if you are cussing up a storm or finally releasing the tears you’ve held back for so long from the frustration of the build-up of anxiety, I will be there. I will hold compassion for every part of you, especially during your most vulnerable moments.

As we dive into what’s going on now and what has happened to you in the past, I want you to remember that you are the expert in your journey. I am an intentional learner of your experiences, ready to listen and walk alongside you in your growth.

What it’s like to work with me

I know you’ve made many attempts to find relief. Maybe you’re like a lot of my clients; you’ve been in therapy before and although venting (for years!) felt okay, the anxiety remains the same or worse. Or perhaps this is your first time seeking a therapist after trying self-help books, podcasts, exercising, and venting to loved ones. Although these methods have made you feel better for a moment, they have not created long-lasting changes you desire.

Let me assure you that…I get it.

In my own anxieties from past relationships and traumas, I thought that all I needed to do was continue pushing forward by never looking back. I tried to do anything to avoid addressing what had previously hurt me. But it didn’t make my anxiety feel better…at all

It took me some time to understand that I needed to give myself permission to heal rather than run away. And so, whether it took you as long as it did me or maybe not much time at all, I’m glad you’re here now. My desire to help you find relief comes from my own experiences and transformations. I’m trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) and have seen the transformative power of these methods firsthand in my own work, as well as for my past and current clients. If you’re a follower of Christ, we will be able to call for His presence during our ART and IFS sessions.

Clients describe me as someone who is warm and easy to connect with, and I truly take pride in that. You can show up as you are and I will meet you there. In our sessions, you will know that your voice is honored. I also value holding space for real and raw emotions simply because you are human and with me, you don’t need to put on a strong front.

I welcome anything you’d like to bring: your creativity (maybe you write poems or songs about your experiences), sense of humor (honestly, I may crack a corny joke here and there), insights you gained in-between sessions (because you’ll find that what we do inside our sessions can also be applied outside, too), or curiosity (about anything!). Because I keep an open-mind, clients also say I am trustworthy. With me, you can be as transparent as you want to be. You are valued and accepted.

Core Values

It is vital for me to demonstrate and live out my core values. They allow me to provide you with authentic, honest guidance.

  • Meeting you where you are and accepting you as you come, so that you can feel safe to be yourself.

  • Understanding what you have been through from your perspective is important to me. As a Christian, this is something I try to live by because of how Christ demonstrated this throughout the Word (and with us in our lives!).

  • Building a positive, authentic connection with you will make our work together easier.

  • Guiding you to embody your strengths, find the root causes of your experiences, and discover your vision for your future.

Methods

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

I use ART to address trauma, anxiety, grief, and other presenting issues. It will guide you in reprogramming how distressful images/memories are stored in your brain, while also helping you release sensations/feelings from them…because you deserve that freedom. Plus, ART will get us to the root. The quick relief you will receive will be rewarding to witness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Helping you to feel balance and harmony within is important to me. IFS provides us the opportunity to do that by getting to know parts of you. We will explore these parts, including their roles. You will also get to know who you are at the core and become the essential resource for parts of you that need healing. This is a transformative mind-body approach.

Why Nu Solace?

When I explained my vision for my practice to my husband, he creatively thought of the name, “Nu Solace,” and it resonated. I believe that therapy should serve as a space of relief and comfort for everyone, especially during vulnerable moments. Therefore, I wanted clients to feel that therapy with me can serve as their new (“Nu”) source of solace. Additionally, when I work with clients and we discover their beautiful abilities and strengths, clients realize that they are now and will continue to be the person that can console and bring solace to earlier versions of themselves. Witnessing this epiphany is why I love what I do.
